The organizing committee for the 100th CIF Conference wish to emphasize the importance and effectiveness of posters as a means of communicating research results. A well-designed poster is an excellent communication tool, but is often seen as being inferior to a verbal presentation. This is not the case, and to emphasize this, CIF will be offering a prize for the best poster. Posters that follow the guidelines presented below have the most likely chance of winning.

A poster is a synopsis of a research paper that is presented visually on one large sheet of paper. A poster uses text and graphics (figures and photographs) to summarize a research activity and its results.

The main point about posters is that the information is provided through the use of visuals in a well-coordinated and organized combination of text and illustrations.

A poster should relate to one of the technical (Silviculture) or research showcase the theme of Canada’s Forest – Managed for Change.

There will be no oral presentation of a poster, except by special arrangement with the Session organizer. However, posters will be located, wherever possible, close to break area, and selected posters may be brought into the session. Rather than having a room dedicated to posters, posters will be spread out in the foyers and will therefore be more accessible to their audience.

Posters can be presented in any of the two official languages (English, French). The following guidelines will help ensure consistency and good quality.
