Information for Partners/Spouses 
We do not have a set program for partners, but we will have a hospitality room available for partners where they can meet and get information on outings and events to visit while in Fredericton.

If you have a partner coming and would like to be in touch with others, send us your email at maritime@cif-ifc.org and we can put you in touch with other partners that are coming to the conference.

Fredericton has a lot of things to offer, for any type of activities and/or interest.  Here are some examples of how to spend your days:

For the adventure seekers

Day 1 AM - stretch your legs on a walk or rent a bike from the Lighthouse Adventure Centre, and tour the town on the 70 kms of maintained trails in downtown Fredericton. 

Day 1 PM - rent a canoe or kayak from the Small Crafts Aquatic Centre, located downtown.  Or even better, take a guided 1-3 hour botanical tour to see indigenous plants along the St. John River.

Day 2 AM - Hyla Park Nature Preserve.  Canada's First Amphibian Park, the land was set aside to protect the treefrog population and habitat.  Come walk the trails to enjoy a variety of trees and flowers and rare plant species.

Day 2 PM - Carleton Boat Tours.  Explore the majestic St. John River on board The Carleton II; a licensed coast guard approved 50-passenger vessel.  The captain of the Carleton is Fredericton's Mayor - Brad Woodside.  One to three hour cruises, snacks, BBQ and bar are available.

For the arts & crafts lover

Day 1 AM - Aitkens Pewter studio tour.  Tour the Aitkens Pewter workshop floor and see how pewter is made.  You'll find gift ideas for everyone.  The retail outlet is located downtown.

Day 1 PM - Beaverbrook Art Gallery.  The world-renowed Beaverbrook Art Gallery features an impressive collection of art from major Atlantic Canadian, Canadian, and British artists.  The Gallery icon is Salvador Dali's Santiago el Grande.

Day 2 AM - Gallery 78.  New Brunswick's oldest commercial art gallery set in Fredericton's historic downtown.  A vital component of the Maritime art community for the last twenty years, representing and exhibiting both young and established Canadian artists, with an emphasis on fine art from Atlantic Canada.

Day 2 PM - Bejewel by Trudy Gallagher.  Custom designed handcrafted silver and gold jewelry of the highest quality.  Her specialty is one-of-a-kind rings, bands and recycled jewelry & giftware from vintage silver-plate.


For the history & heritage buffs

Day 1 AM - Self-guided walking tour of downtown Fredericton.  Booklets and maps of heritage areas in Fredericton will be made available from Fredericton Tourism.

Day 1 PM - Legislative Assembly tour.  The Provincial Legislative Assembly Building has been the seat of government in New Brunswick since 1882.  When the legislature is in session, visitors may sit in the public gallery to watch the proceedings of the House.  A complete set of the Birds of America by John James Audubon is on permanent display.

Day 2 AM - Old Government House.  Built in 1828, it served as the official residence for fourteen of New Brunswick's Lieutenant Governors, until closing in 1894.  Once again, Old Government House is alive as the seat of office for New Brunswick's Lieutenant Governor, free tours are available.

Day 2 PM - Christ Church Cathedral.  Enjoy one of the finest examples of decorated Gothic architecture in North America.  Christ Church Cathedral was the first cathedral foundation built on British soil since the Norman Conquest in 1066. 

For those with kids

Day 1 AM - Science East.  New Brunswick's only science centre, home to over 100 hands-on science exhibits that truly bring their motto to life.  Play...Discover...Learn. 

Day 1 PM - Kingswood Entertainement Centre.  Fredericton's one-stop family entertainment centre offers 36 lanes of candlepin bowling, indoor playground, and laser tag.

Day 2 AM - NB Sports Hall of Fame.  Celebrate New Brunswick's rich sport heritage.  On display are memorabilia, photographs, trophies, equipment and uniforms of famous NB sports figures.  Tours and activities are offered throughout the year.

Day 2 PM - Bucket Club Family Activity Park.  This activity park offers waterslides, golf driving range, 18-hole mini golf, batting cages and more.  Rent a canoe or kayak and enjoy the majestic St. John River.  Picnic facilities, canteen and barbecues are available.
