Foster Forest Awareness
Forestry Awaresness in Canada Trust (FACT)
Forest Professionals contribute to increasing forest awareness through the Forestry Awareness in Canada Trust (FACT).
Since it began in 1981, over 50 projects have been funded across Canada.
Purpose
Forestry Awareness in Canada Trust (FACT) is a registered charity with the mandate to provide financial assistance to programs that stimulate public awareness of Canada's forests. Projects must focus on informing the people of Canada of the facts and importance of forests and forestry and the value of forests and forest products to the standard of living and economic strength of Canada.
FACTS on FACT
- FACT was established in 1981. Its first project was developing and publishing "Heritage Lost: The Crisis in Canada's Forests" by Don MacKay. Since 1986 FACT supported projects focused primarily on raising youth awareness of forestry.
- Donations will be provided with a Charitable receipt. Donations are received annually from the Canadian Institute of Forestry membership, and through special fundraising events such as the CIF/IFC Annual General meeting and Conference FACT Fun run, Silent Auction, and raffles.
- Project proposals may be submitted by individuals and groups, and must focus on the purpose of FACT stated above. Criteria for submitting proposals may be obtained from FACT. Proposals are reviewed and approved by the FACT Trustees.
